محرك‌ آكوستيك شنوايي

 حلزون شنوايي وسيله‌اي الكترونيكي است و با عمل جراحي در گوش داخلي شخصي كاشته مي‌شود كه يا به طور كامل ناشنوا است و يا اينكه به سختي مي‌شنود. بر خلاف وسايل كمك شنوايي، اين كاشتني صدا را بلندتر يا واضح‌تر نمي‌كند، بلكه عصب شنوايي را به طور مستقيم تحريك مي‌كند. كاشتني حلزون شنوايي، به مقدار كمي احساس شنوايي را در شخص ايجاد مي‌كند كه البته كامل نيست.

A cochlear implant is an electronic device which is surgically implanted in the inner ear of a person who is profoundly or completely deaf. Unlike hearing aids, the implant does not make sounds louder or clearer. Instead, it stimulates the hearing nerve directly.
